Scholarships
"Building Bright Futures:
Empowering Scholars through Education."
The Latino Family Fund Youth in Philanthropy and Leadership Scholarships have offered $20,000 in college scholarships the past year. These scholarships were inspired by the Edward Boss Prado Foundation. There are three post-secondary scholarships for graduating students living in Gilroy and attending a Gilroy Unified School District high school or Gavilan College. These three scholarships will be available to students for entering college in the Fall of 2025.

2024 Youth in Philanthropy and Leadership Scholarship Recipient
The Youth in Philanthropy and Leadership Scholarships are designed to lift financial burdens and foster success among students. Students who have previously participated in YIP are encouraged to apply. These opportunities are available annually through the Gilroy Unified School District’s Going Merry Portal, welcoming applications from graduating GUSD high school students from early January to early March. Award ceremonies are held in May at each GUSD high school to celebrate recipients.
Additionally, scholarships are extended to Gavilan College graduates transferring to a 4-year university. These scholarships can be accessed via the Gavilan College scholarship portal from January to mid-March, with awards distributed in the fall semester.
