and active participant in Gilroy's philanthropic sector.
A recognized leader in Youth philanthropy and
grantmaking, Latino Family Fund is providing
generational empowerment to significantly impact
the Latino community.
In 2006, twelve families had a vision to empower and strengthen the Latino community in Gilroy. They pooled their own money and established the Latino Family Fund de Gilroy with the Gilroy Foundation, a donor-advised fund dedicated to serving the needs of the community.
Since then, the Latino Family Fund has grown and made a significant impact. They have developed their own mission and vision statements and established a strategic plan for growth and development. Through outreach and fundraising events, they have increased their grantmaking fund and gifted over $71,000 to local organizations serving the Latino community.
Their hard work and dedication have also paid off in the form of an endowed donor-advised fund that has grown from $10,000 to over $230,000. With this increased funding, the Latino Family Fund has been able to expand its reach and impact.
In 2013, the Latino Family Fund partnered with South Valley Middle School to launch the Youth In Philanthropy (YIP) program, a program designed to help young people develop leadership, grantmaking, and fundraising skills. Since then, YIP has expanded to all three of the GUSD middle schools, and the students have awarded more than $16,000 in grants.
Through their commitment to the community and dedication to empowering young people, the Latino Family Fund has made a significant impact in Gilroy. Join us in supporting this incredible organization and making a difference in the lives of local youth and families.
